Personal Statement
I have found that although a particular event or circumstance may trigger a request for help, the problem has usually been brewing. Frequently one is unsure whether therapy is needed, so I may initially agree to meet with him or her simply to try to answer that question, without a further commitment.The opportunity to talk confidentially with an objective, trained, non-judgmental person affords the chance both to resolve the current problem, as well as to enhance growth and happiness. I believe that each person who comes has a puzzle to be solved, and we both put the pieces together. This is accomplished not only through my careful listening, questions, and observations, but also through their feeling comfortable to share and explore relevant past history and current relationships. By being honest, respectful, and sensitive, I am often able to help people achieve their goals.
