Rose Mattax, M.S.

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)

Rose Mattax takes a holistic approach, and highlights the importance of integrating mind, body and spirit to make the most of personal growth and healing.

Overview

Rose Mattax received her Masters of Science in Counseling from Butler University in 1988. During her schooling, she established a play therapy program for preschool children with emotional and behavioral disorders. She then went on to work in a mental health center with school age children and young adults.

At this time Rose became interested in alternative healing techniques. She began working as a psychotherapist at the first established physician-supervised alternative health practice in America, American Whole Health, where began her "grassroots education" in acupuncture, chiropractic, reiki, flower essences and more. She began to see how "energy medicine" might fit into the world of psychotherapy.

During her six years at AWH, she became a Certified Flower Essence Practitioner, Reiki Master and learned how to use Emotional Freedom Technique for resolution of many of life's challenges.

Now in private practice, she has founded From the Heart Center. The Mission of From the Heart Center is to promote the growth and well being of the individuals and couples who come to see her.

Personal Statement

Hello! My name is Rose Mattax. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor. I have been in practice fourteen years. For six of those years I worked in a physician-supervised alternative health practice. For the last four years my office was in Oak Park until I moved it to Forest Park last June.

What a "family doctor" or "internist" is to the world of medicine, I am to the world of counseling and psychotherapy. I see many adults, men, women, and couples for a "garden variety" of reasons. I have successfully helped people resolve all sorts of common fears, such as fear of flying, public speaking and social phobia. People come to me often to resolve traumatic memories, relationship issues, career-related problems, persistent defeating beliefs, moods and behaviors that lead to depression, anxiety and panic attacks. Because of my work in the medical field, I am able to work very effectively with people who are coping with chronic or terminal illnesses, such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, and cancer.

People who come to me see very practical, "real-world" results. Self esteem improves, insight into life as teacher and healer deepens, resourcefulness and an effective skill base for coping is developed. In addition, people create a deep connection to that part of themselves that can remain centered, calm, loving, joyful and capable regardless of circumstances. For many, counseling is the beginning of a spiritual journey and the end of spiritual crisis. I welcome the exploration of spiritual concerns in my office.

Norman Vincent Peale once said, "No matter how dark things seem to be, or actually are, raise your sights and see the possibilities ... always see them, for they're always there." I enjoy helping people to do just that ... not only as a counselor, but as a teacher, writer and speaker. For years I have taught on the topic of how to increase energy for optimal wellness, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I have taught or spoken at the College of DuPage, the Loyola Hospital medical residency program, various national conferences, as well as meditation groups and women's circles. I would love to speak to your group!

To make an appointment, I can be reached by phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you.
